Hike for Hospice 2017

It’s time to put on your walking shoes and join us for the HIKE for HOSPICE 2017.   Over $23,000 was raised by hike participants last year and we would like to exceed that this year.   With your participation, we can do it!!!

Hospice Fredericton is a community-based program serving Fredericton and surrounding areas which offers care, comfort and support to individuals and families coping with advanced illness, death and bereavement.  Services offered by Hospice include:  in-home support, respitecare for the caregivers, inpatient 24-hour palliative care, narrative care and grief support.  We rely on donations from individuals, businesses and foundations.

With your help, we can continue to provide support both within homes and within Hospice House – a 10 bed residential hospice facility which provides 24-hour end of life care to patients who can no longer be cared for at home.  Staffed with a specialized medical team, patients and families are offered the care and support required at end-of-life in a comfortable, supportive home-like setting. Furthermore, the new Hospice House offers affordable rooms for visiting families and an Adult Day Center for individuals who cannot live at home independently and their caregiver requires respite care.

On Sunday May 7th, Hospice Fredericton will be hosting its 9th Annual Hike for Hospice fund raising event.  This is one of the largest fundraisers for the organization and is a national event.  Supporters throughout the country will be walking or hiking in support of Hospice on this date.  The event will take place at Killarney Lake Lodge from 12-3pm.

Registration will take place between 12pm to 1pm, however all teams must pre-register by calling the office at the number listed below. All teams will have a team leader assigned who will provide pledge forms to all team members and encourage door to door canvassing or other fund raising activities.  The team leader will gather and deliver all funds raised on May 7th.  A free BBQ will take place immediately following the walk.  This is a great family event that supports a worthy cause.

We encourage you to form teams amongst your friends, families, co-workers and others to participate in the Hike for Hospice. It promises to be a fun-filled afternoon with many teams in friendly competition helping to raise funds to support all programs offered by Hospice Fredericton.

In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be optional, however all team leaders are asked to bring their team’s collective contributions to the lodge on May 7th. The BBQ will still take place.

If you would like further information about our programs and services, or how you can contribute to this event please call Tracy Battilana at 472-8185 or email support@hospicefredericton.ca.

Sincerely,

Penny Ericson
